Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot

The time is 3:38am, the date the 13th of November 2012 A.D.

As I am typing this, I am considering whether or not to just give up writing this and finally go to sleep and try again another day.

No. Not this time. No delay, no silence can possibly be justified any longer.

These feelings, observations, and opinions have been building over the years, waiting to be put in words for way too long.

I have to vent them.

I want to discuss some issues with you, the sentient individual reading this.
You, and the rest of us.

I am doubting whether putting my concerns about the issues I am seeing on paper will even help.
Should I even concern myself with these issues at twenty years of age?

A part of me fears these words of concern will ring as meaningless and hollow as those of many other advocates of my beliefs before me.

Beliefs, not in the spiritual but in the theoretical, based on the experimental.

In the scientific method, in solid proof and evidence, in experimentally provable theories and in big, healthy amounts of skepticism.

In facts.
Cold, hard, world view-changing facts.

I also worry -deeply, I might add- about the cold, hard fact, that more and more people seem to be miscomprehending these beliefs on a daily basis.

I shall share and discuss more of my worries with you in the near future.
